According to a report by the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on Saturday, January 18, 2026, Meysam Farahmand Yaghoubipour, a 42-year-old Gilak citizen from Lahijan, Gilan Province, was killed in one of the city's alleys during popular protests. He was shot directly in the heart by government forces with a war bullet. This citizen, who had recently become a father, was targeted by government forces while providing aid to other injured citizens.
