According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on Thursday, January 8, 2026 (18 Dey 1404 SH), Mohammad Mehdi (Mahan) Mardani, a Kurdish citizen from Kermanshah (Kermashan), a follower of the Yarsan religion and a resident of Tehran, lost his life due to direct firing by government forces and being hit by a live bullet during popular protests in Qaleh Hasan Khan, Tehran. According to the information received, this citizen was a master's student in Industrial Engineering at Shahrood University and, in addition to being active in bodybuilding, was also the goalkeeper for Shahrood University of Technology's futsal team. Mahan Mardani's body was identified in Kahrizak after several days of being missing and was buried on January 13, 2026 (23 Dey 1404 SH). (Source: Hengaw Human Rights Organization)
