Roozbeh Safari

Roozbeh Safari, a 36-year-old married man, was targeted by suppressive forces with shotgun pellets during protests in Isfahan on January 8, 2026 (1). He was defending his wife, Shirin, when he fell to the ground after being hit by the pellets, and then several armed forces shot at him, resulting in over 200 pellets striking his body, which led to the loss of sensation in his legs (1). The attacking forces left him in that condition, but he initially survived and was transferred to the hospital. Despite undergoing surgery and initial relative improvement, due to the severity of his injuries and complications from the large number of pellets, he passed away on January 30, 2026 (1). He had been transferred home before completing treatment due to fear of arrest or being killed. Radiology images revealed that many of the pellets had struck critical areas of his body (1).
