Akbar Mirzaei

Akbar Mirzaei, 39 years old and father of a young daughter, was severely injured in the head by direct fire from government forces during protests on January 8, 2026 (18 Dey 1404 Solar Hijri) in the Narmak neighborhood of Tehran. He died on May 11, 2026 (21 Ordibehesht 1405 Solar Hijri) after 123 days in the intensive care unit of Imam Hussein Hospital. His family rejected the suggestion to bury him in the 'Martyrs' section of Behesht-e Zahra cemetery and the official narrative that 'terrorists' were responsible for the shooting.
