According to IranWire, Hossein Niksarshat, a 34-year-old protester from Mashhad and father of two children aged 9 and 2, was shot and killed on 18th of Dey 1404 (Solar Hijri calendar) when he went to the street after hearing the sound of suppressive forces' gunfire near his house. IranWire's sources have confirmed that security forces are trying to label this young father as a 'martyr' and 'Basiji,' while he had repeatedly expressed his support for the people's protests and, just before being killed, had said, 'I must answer to the mothers whose children are gone, that's why I'm going.' IranWire was told that five days later, his young wife, after a 13-hour search, was able to find him among hundreds of bodies in black covers in Behesht-e-Reza. The authorities initially claimed he was 'Afghanistani,' but later the family, by bringing identification documents, was able to change this fabrication.
