Arian Nabati, 18 years old, was shot and killed on February 17, 2026, coinciding with the commemoration of the fortieth day of mourning for the victims of protests in Mashhad. He was targeted by gunfire on Pirouzi Boulevard. Sources close to the family reported that he was killed by three bullet wounds. According to these sources, after the body was transferred to the hospital, the cause of death was declared as 'accident' by security officials, but some medical staff reported that he had been shot. Based on published messages, the family was informed of his death around midnight. At the insistence of his mother, only she was allowed to see her son's body and stated that his face was severely damaged. The family has told their relatives that they have been threatened to refrain from any form of information dissemination, not to post anything on Instagram, and to only use the term 'unsuccessful.' Witnesses reported that during the funeral, some attendees smoked and played music, but officials interrupted the music to play mourning chants and filmed the attendees. This ceremony was held with a heavy presence of security forces and under strict measures.
