Hamidreza Sabet Esmaeilpour
State media in Iran reported that Hamidreza Sabte Ismailpour, a political prisoner, was executed at dawn on Wednesday on charges of 'espionage and collaboration with Israel' (1). The Mizan news agency, affiliated with the judiciary, claimed that this individual was hanged after being accused of connections with Mossad and 'providing classified documents and information' following the confirmation of the sentence by the Supreme Court and through 'legal procedures' (2). No independent details have been published regarding the trial process or the defendant's access to a chosen lawyer, and state media did not provide any evidence for the allegations made. Some sources reported that he was arrested on April 28, 2025. The announcement of this execution comes at a time when, following the 12-day war between the Islamic Republic and Israel, reports have emerged of executions being carried out against several detainees accused of 'collaboration with Israel.' Last December, Aghil Keshavarz, an architecture student in Urmia, was also executed (1).
