Eltay Akhoundi

Eltay Akhoundi, a 14-year-old Turkmen boy, was arrested on Friday, January 8, 2025, in Gonbad Kavous and after three days of detention at the IRGC Intelligence detention center, was transferred to the Gorgan Juvenile Correction Center [1]. According to published reports, he is currently facing serious psychological pressures and despite suffering from asthma, has been deprived of full and regular access to his medications [1]. Sources close to the family of this teenager state that he has been subjected to repeated interrogations during his detention and has faced psychological and physical pressures [1]. Additionally, at the time of his detention, he was deprived of access to a lawyer or any legal support, which has raised concerns about the judicial process [1]. In the more than a month since Eltay Akhoundi's detention, his parents have only been allowed to have in-person visits once a week, specifically on Mondays. These visits have been very brief, lasting about 20 minutes. Phone calls have also been limited [1]. Based on this information, the case of this teenager has been referred to the third branch of the Gonbad Kavous Court for investigation under the supervision of Judge Saeedi.
